A Personal Reflection from the Founder of Loving Events

One of the things I have always been passionate about since founding Loving Events is ensuring that every event is treated as much more than a booking in a diary.

From the moment a client first enquires with us, my approach has always been the same. I don’t see an event as simply a project to complete. I see it as a moment that someone has spent months, sometimes years, dreaming about. Whether it’s a wedding, engagement, birthday celebration, baby shower, corporate event, or special family occasion, these are moments that cannot be repeated.

Because of this, my team and I pay close attention to every detail. Not only the details within our own work, but often the details that others may overlook or dismiss as unimportant.

Over the years, I have noticed something that I believe is one of the biggest challenges people face when planning a special event.

The Difference Between Having a Vision and Protecting It

Most people begin planning their event with a vision.

Perhaps it’s a photograph they’ve seen online, a wedding they’ve attended, a colour palette, a floral design, or a feeling they want their guests to experience.

The vision often starts beautifully.

However, what many people don’t realise is how many suppliers are involved in bringing that vision to life.

Every supplier comes with different styles, recommendations, availability, pricing structures, and ways of working.

As planning progresses, factors such as budget, availability, logistics, and location naturally influence decisions. This is completely understandable and often unavoidable.

One Piece of Advice I Give To Every Client

Whether you have a professional event planner or are organising everything yourself, one piece of advice I always share is this:

Find one supplier who genuinely understands your vision and trust their network.

This could be your planner, stylist, florist, venue coordinator, or another trusted professional.

Why?

Because reputable suppliers care deeply about their own standards and reputation.

When experienced suppliers recommend another company, they are often recommending someone they have worked alongside before, someone whose work ethic they trust, and someone who shares similar values and standards.

A supplier who truly cares about their reputation will naturally be cautious about recommending businesses that may not deliver the same level of service.

In many cases, they have already seen these suppliers perform under pressure, solve problems, meet deadlines, and deliver quality results.

That level of confidence is incredibly valuable.

Your Event Experience Matters Just As Much As The Final Result

When people look back on a special occasion, they rarely remember only the decorations, flowers, or photographs.

They remember how the experience felt.

They remember whether things ran smoothly.

They remember whether suppliers communicated well.

They remember whether problems were handled professionally.

They remember whether they felt supported throughout the process.

The most beautiful event in the world can quickly become stressful if there are communication issues, delays, or inconsistencies between suppliers.
